The towers sit atop three levels of elevated parking, and are connected by a podium lobby that opens up onto the pool deck. The unique, radial design provides for 288 spacious suites, ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet. The original floor plans, created by an internationally renowned design team, were designed for waterside living, with expansive terraces, outdoor summer kitchen options, and large windows offering exceptional views of the Gulf.

The façade boasts floor to ceiling tinted glazing with a Limestone colored concrete podium, terrace enclosures and cornice elements. The building is set in a classic architectural sculptured form solid at the base anchoring it to the ground, the mid-rise element reaches to the sky and an elegant slender top, caps the building in a modern skyline landmark feature.

Architecturally, the buildings of Palisade Palms incorporate the modern aspects of large expanses of glass into a classic composition of architectural pilasters, columns and cornices. The result provides a high textured exterior, starting from a strong base, then rising verticals of glass panels and terraces, terminating above large cornices with penthouses offering large terraces which step back to a background of glass. Each building is accentuated at the top with a series of decorative forms which complement the overall design as well as identify the unique project that is Palisade Palms as a landmark site destination.

Discovery Green, a 12-acre park located in downtown Houston, opened on April 13, 2008. With its proximity to the George R. Brown Convention Center, Minute Maid Park and Toyota Center, Discovery Green is an ideal location for the city’s newest attraction.

In addition to surface lot and park perimeter parking, the Convention District Garage, operated by the City of Houston, lies beneath the park.

Designed by Hargreaves Associates, PageSoutherlandPage and Lauren Griffith Associates, along with a team of engineers and specialists, these carefully planned features allow the park to accommodate those seeking peace at the same time as those seeking activity. Much of this was accomplished via thoughtful use of organic boundaries, such as trees and water features.

The award winning Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is located in downtown Houston and offers a classic European cathedral design with a modern twist. The $40 million building, which forms the shape of a cross, provides a central place of worship for up to 1,820 attendees, and serves 1.3 million Catholics in the 10 county area encompassing the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Exterior walls are made from limestone quarried in Indiana, and more than 30,000 square feet of marble line the interior floors. Both of these pale in comparison to the stunning stained glass and the dramatic metal dome roof with a 17 foot high gold leaf cross. Over one hundred pieces of stained glass lined the walls of the facility, with the Clerestory windows designed and fabricated in Florence, Italy by Mellini. The largest, a 40 foot high depiction of Christ, overlooks the South part of downtown Houston. Statues of Mary of the Immaculate Conception and the Sacred Heart of Jesus stand over 12 feet tall and weigh over 12,000 pounds each. They were sculpted in Italy out of white Carrara marble and took six days to install.

Moody Gardens is one of the premier travel destinations in Galveston, featuring three spectacular, giant glass pyramids, and a luxurious hotel and conference center.

Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, white sand beaches and clear blue lagoons, Moody Gardens is a spectacular sight to behold, not to mention a very interesting and extremely fun place to visit.

The centerpiece at Moody’s is the Rainforest Pyramid, this spectacular 10-story, 40,000 square-foot glass pyramid houses a tropical rainforest, which includes waterfalls, cliffs, caverns, wetlands, forests and an amazing variety of wildlife.

The Palm Beach area offers 3 acres of freshwater lagoons and white sand beaches adorned with palm trees, spas and children’s play areas.

Hidden behind the massive pyramid is an oasis of clear cool water and dancing water fountains, a great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the view. Listen to the sounds of laughter, as the kids play in the white sand and the cool waters of  Moody’s Palm Beach oasis.

This is also where  the Colonial Paddleboat is located, a modern day triple-deck paddle wheeler. This exquisite boat recaptures the romance and culture of 19th Century river steamboats.

The Moody Gardens Aquarium is a 2 level facility, comprising 111,000 square feet. The pyramid is 100 feet at the peak. The Aquarium features four major exhibits representing the 4 oceans of the world. The Caribbean exhibit is home to sharks, sea turtles, eels and thousands of beautiful tropical fish. All can be seen through an underwater tunnel completely surrounded by the exhibit’s one million gallons of water. The North Pacific, having a total volume of 80,000 gallons, is home to seals, sea lions, and a kelp forest. The South Atlantic, hosting King, Chinstrap, Rockhopper, Gentoo and Macaroni penguins, has a total of 100,000 gallons of 50 degree water. The South Pacific, at 120,000 gallons, highlights the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea, and includes a serene tide pool. The lower level offers an underwater view of more than 200 species of fish, stingrays, and small sharks, in their beautiful complex environment. The exhibit’s water temperatures are regulated through the use of heat exchangers, chilled water, and hot water from the central plant system. Numerous smaller exhibits are sprinkled throughout the facility utilizing packaged life support systems, and there are two changing exhibit areas. The building also houses a food court area with a fully equipped commercial kitchen.

Formerly known as the North Harris Montgomery Community College District, the Lone Star College System  is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science Degrees.

The Schlitterbahn Water Park at Galveston Island is a 25 acre water park consisting of substantial improvements of two existing on-site facilities, including a 43,000 square foot aircraft hanger and a 19,000 square foot maintenance building. The aircraft hanger was converted into an indoor water park with indoor pools, a walk up/swim up bar, kiddy pools, and a series of rivers running throughout the building. Two stair towers were added to accommodate approximately eleven slides that will feed into the outdoor river systems below. There is a Shrimp Haus Restaurant and kitchen, offices, a game room with associated kitchen and bar, first aid, restrooms, showers, dressing rooms, and lockers. The maintenance building was converted into a entry building with a plaza which is surrounded by a gift shop, photo shop, customer service, ticket windows, and cash control. Restroom facilities provided will include restrooms, showers, dressing room kiosks, and lockers. A second level was added to the building to house mechanical equipment, the network operation center, and security. The outdoor water park includes a flow rider, a tidal wave river, transportaiment river, momentum river, kiddy pools, beach areas, group area shelters and restrooms, BBQ Haus kiosk and kitchen, walk up/swim up bar, volleyball courts, restrooms, and palapa shade structures.

Plans for the extensive makeover of the home of the Rice Owls basketball and volleyball teams were set into motion in 2007 with a $7 million gift from trustee and alumnus Bobby Tudor ’82 and his wife, Phoebe.  Since then, the total amount of gifts and pledges for the Autry Court renovation has increased to nearly $20 million.

The redesign by noted sports architectural firm Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum includes provisions for an academic center where student-athletes can go for tutoring, academic counseling, skill-development workshops and leadership training geared toward their career.  The center will give student-athletes greater flexibility for scheduling study time around classes, practice, individual workouts and the team’s schedule of games.

“Autry Court is such an integral part of the athletic life of Rice University,” the Traubers said.  “It also provides an important connection to the Houston community as it hosts athletic events and kids sports camps.  In its current condition it does not adequately represent the excellence that we all expect from Rice University. We are proud to be able to contribute to this very important project and we hope to help inspire other friends of Rice to do the same.”
